The wet weather over the last week has meant a couple of trips to the laundrette and I was not disappointed. To everyone I’ve ever shared a laundrette experience with, think how much more fulfilling our Sunday afternoon’s would have been if they’d gone like this…….
The machines all work, have a pre-rinse (before you put your clothes in) and are already loaded with detergent, so you don’t have to bring your own.

The laundrette is equipped with a change machine, so you don’t have to go to the narky shopkeeper next door. The washing machines wash your clothes rather than eat them, the dryers dry your clothes without making you bankrupt. There are chairs and tables to sit at while you do your homework, and a TV. It’s open ‘til midnight, so won’t lock you out and your clothes in! There are big wheelie trolleys (clean), to transport your clothes from the washing machines to the dryers. No one would ever dare remove your load from the machine before it was finished. And if your load’s finished while you’re at the restaurant over the road, anyone waiting will politely remove and fold it for you before they put theirs in. Even if they did drop it on the floor, it’s clean, not covered with fluffy dust.

The Laundrettes are extremely safety conscious.

Under no circumstances should you put dogs or small children into the washing machines.

Best of all, our local laundrette has a drinks machine and a separate room equipped with 2 multifunctional massage chairs, which will give you 15 minutes of great massage for 100 yen (50p). Washing my clothes is actually a pleasure….
