The first I heard of blogging, was when my cousin told me it was how she’d met her boyfriend. I asked if blogging was like dogging and she said sternly no, although on reflection I’d say that there are a number of common features… principally that you are exposing a private piece of yourself to anyone who would care to observe or interact if they care to visit the right place.

So why have I set up a weblog? Well, I‘m in Japan for 3 months and (although I can’t help feeling like a bit of a nerd) it seems to be the most efficient way of communicating information to a large number of friends and family.

Why then am I spending 3 months in Japan? Because I can!
The main reason is to practice aikido, but it’s also an opportunity to take myself out of routine working life and immerse myself in a different culture, live a different lifestyle, learn a different language and meet new people.
